Nia is a mobile app for a nightly manifestation ritual: you write a short scene of something you want as if it has already happened, and listen to it narrated — by a preset voice or, if you choose, a copy of your own — as you fall asleep. This policy explains what we collect, what happens to the material you bring in, who processes it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
The short version.
Nia keeps what the ritual needs. Your scenes, affirmations, 369 lines, revisions and signs are stored privately with your account, so they follow you to a new phone and so our servers can turn a scene into audio. If you add a selfie, it is deleted as soon as your scene image is made; if you record your voice, the recording is deleted once your voice has been copied, and we ask our voice provider to delete the copy when you delete your account. We use a few named providers to draft, narrate and illustrate your scenes, each only for that job. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or train AI models on it.
1. Who we are
Nia is operated by Fluxternal Inc. ("Fluxternal", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
Questions, requests, or complaints: hello@fluxternal.com.
2. Who this app is for
Nia is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
3. What we collect
3.1 Account data
Email address. The address you sign up with. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and the email address the provider shares with us — with Apple, that can be a private relay address.
Name. Nia does not ask for your name. If you sign in with Apple or Google and the provider shares your name or profile picture, it is stored on your account.
User IDs. An account id, the date you signed up, and your app preferences (language, theme and notification settings).
Waitlist email (website only). If you join the launch waitlist on this website, we keep the email address you enter so we can tell you when Nia is available. It is not linked to an app account. Email us and we will remove it.
3.2 What you bring in
Your onboarding answers and settings. What you are calling in (for example love, career, money or health), how real it already feels, your experience with the practice, what tends to get in the way, and the archetype those answers map to — plus your bedtime, reminder, soundscape, voice and player settings. They shape your first scene and your reminders.
Your ritual. What you write in Nia: your scenes and their titles, the affirmations in each, your 369 lines, your revisions, the signs you log, your playlists, and the nights you completed a session. It is stored with your account so it follows you to a new phone and so our servers can turn a scene into audio and an image. Parts of it are sent to Anthropic (to draft), ElevenLabs (to read aloud) and fal.ai (a short description, for your image), as described below.
Your voice (optional). If you choose to narrate in your own voice, you read a short statement aloud. Recording it is your consent for us to create a copy of your voice that is used only to read your own scenes back to you; we keep the text of that statement and when you recorded it. The recording is uploaded to private storage and sent to ElevenLabs to create the copy, then deleted from our storage once the copy exists. The copy stays with ElevenLabs, linked to your account, until you delete your account. The audio sessions made from your scenes are stored privately with your account and on your phone. Voice data is never used to identify you, never used for anyone else, and never used for advertising.
Your selfie and scene image (optional). If you add a selfie, it is shrunk to at most 1024 pixels on your phone, uploaded to private storage, and used once to make a still image of you inside your scene. The selfie is deleted as soon as that job has run, whether or not it succeeded. The image it produces is stored privately with your account, shown in the app and on your home-screen widget, and deleted with your account. Face data: the image model analyses your facial features only while it draws you into that picture. We do not store face measurements or templates, we do not use your face to identify or recognise you, we do not use it for tracking or advertising, and your selfie is not shared with anyone other than fal.ai, for that one image.
3.3 Subscription and usage
Subscription data. Whether you are on a free trial, subscribed, or lapsed, when the period ends, and the store transaction and product identifiers passed to us. We never see your payment details — card and billing information is handled entirely by the store.
3.4 Product analytics and diagnostics
Product analytics. Which screens you open, which buttons you tap, and events like “started a trial” — with your account id, your device model, OS version and app version. These events do not include the text of your scenes, affirmations or signs.
Crash reports. Stack traces and the app state around a crash or error, which can include a screenshot of the screen that was open at that moment.
Diagnostics. Performance measurements such as app start time, device and OS details.
3.5 Device identifiers and push
Device identifiers. A pseudonymous device identifier used by our analytics. If you allow notifications, the app also registers a push token for your device and stores it with your account. Your bedtime, morning and Sunday reminders are scheduled on your phone; we do not currently send remote push messages.
4. What happens when you make a scene
This is the part that matters most, so here it is step by step:
- You describe the moment. When you ask for a draft — in onboarding or in Studio — the details you typed (your intentions, one sentence and who is there, where you are and what is said, or a scene you want revised) go to our server and on to Anthropic's Claude, which returns a draft. You edit it; nothing is kept until you save it.
- Your scene is saved to your account in our Supabase database, with your 369 lines, revisions, signs and settings. Only your account can read these rows.
- It is turned into a session. A background job sends the scene's text to ElevenLabs to be read aloud — by a preset narrator, or in your own voice if you recorded one — mixes it with a soundscape, and stores the finished audio privately with your account. Your phone downloads it so it plays offline, with the screen locked.
- Optional: your voice. If you record the read-aloud statement, the recording goes to private storage and then to ElevenLabs to create a copy of your voice. The recording is deleted from our storage as soon as the copy exists.
- Optional: your image. If you add a selfie, it is shrunk on your phone, uploaded to private storage, and sent to fal.ai with a short description of your scene to make one image of you in it. The selfie is deleted straight afterwards, whether or not the image worked.
Anthropic (Claude). It receives only the text needed for the draft you asked for — your intentions and the details you typed, or the scene or goal you want rewritten — and returns a draft you can edit. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models.
ElevenLabs. It receives the text being read and, for cloning, your voice recording, and processes them under its own terms. Your cloned voice stays with ElevenLabs until you delete your account, when we ask ElevenLabs to delete it.
fal.ai. It receives a link to your downscaled selfie that expires after ten minutes, plus a description taken from your scene with any dialogue removed. The finished image is sent straight back to us rather than hosted by fal.ai, and it processes these requests under its own terms.
We may change or add providers; this policy will be updated when we do.
Your reminders — bedtime, morning check-in and Sunday recap — are scheduled on your phone, and the home-screen widget reads tonight's line and image from your phone's own storage.
Nothing you write, record or photograph is shown to other users: Nia has no feeds or public profiles. A proof card or audio card only leaves your phone if you share it yourself, through your phone's share sheet.
We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
5. Other people in your scenes
A scene can mention people in your life — who is there and what they say. That text is stored with your account and processed as described above, only to make your scene. Please leave out other people's sensitive details. Only record your own voice, and only add a selfie of yourself.
6. Why we are allowed to process it
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Performance of a contract — your account, drafting and rendering your scenes, your subscription.
- Consent — your voice recording and voice copy, your selfie and scene image, and notifications. You can withdraw it at any time: email us to delete your voice copy or scene images (or delete your account), and turn notifications off in your phone's settings. Withdrawing does not affect processing that already happened.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service working, preventing abuse, and understanding which features are used.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests.
7. Who processes your data
We use these service providers, each under its own data-processing terms:
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in, and the database and private file storage that hold your account, your ritual data, your scene images and session audio, your voice recording until it is cloned, and your subscription status. |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Drafts and revises scenes and affirmations from the text you give it. |
| ElevenLabs | Reads your scenes aloud, and — only if you record your voice — creates and hosts the copy of your voice that reads them. |
| fal.ai | Makes your optional scene image from your selfie and a short description of your scene. |
| Trigger.dev | Runs our background jobs — rendering session audio, cloning voices and making scene images — which briefly handle the scene text, recording or selfie involved. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription state and entitlements, keyed to your account id. |
| Apple App Store and Google Play Billing | Take the payment. We never receive your card details. |
| PostHog | Product analytics. |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting. |
| Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Issue a push token for your device if you allow notifications. Your reminders themselves are scheduled on your phone. |
| Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In | Optional sign-in methods. |
| Vercel | Hosts this website, including the launch waitlist form. |
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone's safety. If Nia is ever sold or merged, your data may transfer with it — you will be told before that changes anything about this policy.
8. International transfers
Our providers operate in the European Union and the United States. That means your data may be processed outside your own country, including in places whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism.
9. How long we keep it
- Your ritual data, onboarding answers and settings: until you delete them or your account.
- Your voice recording: until your voice has been copied — normally within minutes. The copy at ElevenLabs is kept until you delete your account.
- Your selfie: until your scene image has been made — normally within minutes.
- Scene images and session audio: until you delete your account.
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Subscription records: as long as needed for accounting and tax, which may outlast your account.
- Analytics and crash reports: per our providers' retention settings, typically up to 12 months.
- Waitlist emails: until launch messages have been sent, or until you ask us to remove yours.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to your data-protection authority.
Deleting your account is built into the app: Tonight → your profile (top right) → Delete account. See the deletion page for exactly what that removes. A deletion cannot be undone.
If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our service providers may process it outside Canada (including in the United States), where it may be accessible to local authorities under local law. Questions about our privacy practices go to our privacy contact at hello@fluxternal.com, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any right, email hello@fluxternal.com. We answer within 30 days.
11. Security
Traffic between the app and our services is encrypted in transit. Your ritual data is restricted to your account by row-level security in our database, and voice recordings, selfies, scene images and session audio sit in private storage folders that only your account and our own servers can read. Our servers reach the AI providers with server-side keys; the app never holds them. No system is perfect and we cannot promise absolute security, so we keep the most sensitive things — your selfie and your raw voice recording — only as long as it takes to use them.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
